Jury Duty in Tampa
As Eileen did her civic duty this morning in Tampa, I walked down town, sat in the court house cafe and did a half day of people watching. We arrived at 7:45 AM and went directly to the 6th floor court room with the 1000 + prospective juriers. Eileen was selected to stand for jury selection. I enjoyed seeing how our court system works. The judge gave some instructions and used a litle humor to put folks at ease. He mentioned "it's not like on Law and Order" he didn't mentioned Judge Judy.
After my walk, I retrieved my lap top from the car, and sat in the cafe making radio contacts with my PC over Echolink and D-Star. It is fun to be able to make a radio call without a radio. I could also see our driving track as we drove to Tampa this morning.
With battery exhausted, I found a wall outlet and pulled up a chair to recharge the laptop. Eileen was released and found me before lunch . We decided to drive to Brandon and have lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, our favorite lunch stop.
She cannot talk about the trial, but gave me all the inside scoop on questioning, and the jury selection process; her next jury appearance is on Thursday. The trial should be over in one day.
After lunch we shopped for a bicycle and then drove home for a restful nap.
Nice morning.
